Comedian David Cross on His New Tour, Dealing With Criticism and If 'Arrested Development' Should Come Back

Published: Jul 18, 2024
David Cross On Touring and If Arrested Development Should End
David Cross, the comedian, actor, and writer, recently embarked on a tour. In between shows, he spoke with me about his experiences on the road, his thoughts on the future of Arrested Development, and his favorite method of comedy.
On Touring
Cross enjoys touring because it allows him to connect with his audience directly. "I love being able to go out there and see the people who are actually watching my stuff," he says. "It's a great way to get feedback and see what's working and what's not."
However, touring can also be challenging. "It's a lot of work," Cross says. "You're constantly on the go, and you don't always have time to relax or see the sights. But it's all worth it when you get to see the people who enjoy your work."
On *Arrested Development*
Arrested Development is a sitcom that ran for three seasons on Fox and one season on Netflix. The show follows the Bluth family, a wealthy family who lose their fortune and must adjust to a more modest lifestyle.
Cross played Tobias Fünke on Arrested Development. Tobias is a divorced therapist who is often clueless and awkward.
Cross says that he would be open to doing another season of Arrested Development. "I think it would be great to see where the characters are now," he says. "They've all been through a lot, and I think it would be interesting to see how they've changed."
On His Favorite Method of Comedy
Cross says that his favorite method of comedy is observational comedy. "I like to observe people and their behavior," he says. "I think that's where the best comedy comes from."
Cross says that he also enjoys dark comedy. "I think dark comedy can be very effective," he says. "It can make people laugh about things that they might not normally laugh about."
Conclusion
David Cross is a talented comedian, actor, and writer. He has a unique perspective on the world, and his work is often both funny and thought-provoking. I encourage you to check out his work if you haven't already.
